John is a lifelong mountaineer but his real passion is for working dogs and mountain rescue. He joined the Edale team over 20 years ago and shortly after he obtained his first search and rescue dog. Since then he has trained 6 dogs and presently he has two- Biscuit and Pasco.

He has attended over 700 call outs - about 300 of those as a dog handler.

As well as an active team member he is the Regional call out organiser for 10 dog handlers in the Peak District and active in the Search and Rescue Dog Association.

He also has 2 children who are just as much fun as the dogs but more difficult to control.
