Hill and Valley Walking
The Peak District is perfect for invigorating walks on a changing landscape of rolling dales contrasting with breathtaking high peaks. Walks are carefully graded for fitness ability.
Trail and Fell Running
Adventurous clients can enjoy trail and fell running which has seen a huge increase in popularity in recent years. The Peak District has been at the hub of that with some truly fabulous scenery to enjoy.
Orienteering
Put simply this is using a map and compass to find your way around a marked course.
An essential but fun skill. The basics are very easy to learn.
Gliding and Helicopter Flights
What finer way to see the Peak District. Gliding and helicopter flights enable you to see views that no other type of flying can provide.
Caving
The Peak District is one of the best places in the country for caving. It abounds with natural caves. There are also a number of modern show caves with easy access for all.
Mountain Biking
The Peak District is crisscrossed with ancient bridleways. There is something to suit everyone, whether that is a rock strewn, fast downhill single-track or the hardpack trail around the reservoirs.
Rock and Indoor Climbing
There are thousands of different routes in the Peak District. It is a hugely popular activity for all levels of ability. Climbing areas include the famous 5km long Stanage Edge and Kinder Downfall on Kinder Scout but in poor weather there are exciting alternatives at Sheffield’s Edge and Foundry indoor walls.
Golf
With stunning views of the surrounding landscape, a game of golf is a particularly pleasant way to enjoy the Peak District.
Historical Houses
The Peak District and surrounding area is home to some splendid manor houses and halls. Viewing of their fine interiors and significant art collections is an excellent alternative option for wet weather days.
Chatsworth House is an imposing, palatial stone building set in 1000acres of parkland, home to the Duke of Devonshire and houses one of the finest private art collections in Europe.
Haddon Hall is a fortified medieval manor house dating to the 12th Century and home to the Manners family. This is one of the most original and complete English houses to survive from the middle ages and boasts an amazing treasure trove of furniture, tapestries and a splendid Elizabethan garden.
